Celebrating the Year of the Dragon: 2024 Lunar New Year Tet Festival

The vibrant colors, the lively music, and the joyful atmosphere — there’s nothing quite like the Lunar New Year Tet Festival to ring in the new year with a sense of excitement and celebration. This year, our Tao of Tomorrow had the pleasure of participating in the festivities at Mile Square Park in Garden Grove, CA, and it was an experience we’ll never forget.

For three unforgettable days, we immersed ourselves in the magic of the Lunar New Year Tet Festival. Our booth was a hub of activity, offering attendees a chance to join in the fun with carnival rides, games, raffles, and spin-the-wheel prizes. The photobooth was a huge hit, with people of all ages eagerly lining up to capture memories with friends and loved ones against a backdrop of festive decorations.

Amidst the festivities, we remained committed to our mission of promoting health and well-being in the community. As part of our outreach efforts, we provided free blood pressure screenings, giving attendees an opportunity to prioritize their health during this festive season. It was a pleasure to meet so many new faces and engage with the community in such a meaningful way.

None of this would have been possible without the support and collaboration of dedicated individuals like Vice Mayor NamQuan Nguyen of Westminster and all of our volunteers that showed up to support our cause. We are immensely grateful for his efforts in organizing this incredible opportunity for us to connect with the community and spread joy and goodwill during the Lunar New Year Tet Festival.

As we bid farewell to the Year of the Tiger and welcome the Year of the Dragon, we extend our warmest wishes for a year filled with prosperity, happiness, and good fortune to all. May this new year bring abundant blessings and opportunities for growth and renewal.6

On January 28, 2024, our organization embarked on a journey to make a difference in the lives of the underserved and homeless population at the Southwest Community Center in Santa Ana, CA. With a team of dedicated volunteers ranging from healthcare professionals to enthusiastic students, we hosted our first annual Health and Wellness Event. It was a day filled with compassion, generosity, and community spirit.

The first annual Health and Wellness Event was a resounding success, thanks to the incredible turnout of volunteers and the overwhelming support from the local community. Over fifty volunteers, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, students, and various healthcare professionals, joined forces to provide much-needed wellness checks to those who often lack access to basic healthcare services.

Throughout the day, attendees were treated to an array of services aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being. From blood pressure screenings to glucose tests, our dedicated team worked tirelessly to ensure that each individual received personalized care and attention. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to enjoy free prizes, participate in raffles, and indulge in complimentary lunches and haircuts, adding an element of joy and celebration to the event.

Beyond the medical services provided, the Health and Wellness Event served as a beacon of hope and solidarity for the community. By coming together and offering our time and resources, we were able to foster a sense of belonging and support for those who are often marginalized and overlooked. Every smile, every conversation, and every act of kindness reaffirmed the importance of human connection and empathy in promoting holistic health and well-being.

As we reflect on the success of our first annual Health and Wellness Event, we are inspired to continue our efforts in serving the needs of the homeless population in Santa Ana and beyond. Moving forward, we are committed to expanding our outreach efforts, forging new partnerships, and exploring innovative ways to address the pressing health disparities facing our communities.

Through the dedication and generosity of our volunteers and supporters, we were able to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
